On the 12th November 2013 the West End Christmas lights will be switched on at a spectacular ceremony hosted by Selfridges. The world famous Christmas lights have undergone a glittering transformation – featuring 750,000 LED lights and over 1700 Christmas baubles lighting up Oxford Street and providing the perfect Christmas setting.
Close by at Leicester Square, the Covent Garden Christmas extravaganza features a shimmering 60ft tree and 15ft topiary reindeer watching over the festivities, with larger-than-life baubles and thousands of twinkling pea lights adorning the Market Building and side streets. In addition to the permanent Ice Skating Rink in Bayswater, a host of festive ice rinks are set up in stunning locations across the capital.
From the 14 November 2013, Somerset House hosts one of London’s most glamorous ice rinks. After dark, music turns up the tempo as the rink transforms into an ice dance floor as part of the Club Nights sessions with top live DJs from Europe and the UK’s leading clubs spinning the latest soundtracks while you skate.
The Christmas Arcade is a pop-up mall with stalls from the very best of British brands and independent artisans.
